Rocstor has introduced its latest Amphibious portable hard drive that uses traditional hard drive or solid state drive to store your files, and since we’re talking about storage, we should notice that Amphibious comes with 1TB of storage space. As for keeping your files safe, Amphibious uses aircraft grade aluminum, so it won’t be damaged easily, and there’s also a built-in keypad for authentication, as well as a smartcard slot. As for additional safety, there’s Advanced Encryption Standard Algorithm (AES)-256 bit encryption, real-time encryption, Military grade hardware encryption that uses NIST cryptographic engine and CSE- certified hardware AES algorithm. As for connection, this device uses two FireWire 800 ports and one USB 2.0 port.

What makes it really special and unique is its long list of  built-in data encryption features. Most of these are above the technical level we, consumers, can understand, but I will list them here, anyway. They include:

  1. Advanced Encryption Standard Algorithm (AES)-256 bit key strength
  2. Real-time encryption (virtually zero time in encrypting and decrypting the data)
  3. Military grade hardware encryption (as opposed to software imbedded in a chip)
  4. CBC modes
  5. Smartcard and password-protected
  6. The cryptographic engine is NIST- and CSE- certified hardware AES algorithm.
  7. FIPS 140-2 Cryptographic Module validated
Rocstor Amphibious portable hard drive is one rugged hard drive that will keep your files safe from damage and from unauthorized access, however, such security costs about $350.
